Harry Shum Jr.’s “If You Are In a Shell” — an interpretive dance about what it’s like to be painfully shy.

Choreographed by Harry, narrated by Buzzfeed’s Ze Frank and exploding with color and emotion, the powerful video encourages people to overcome their shyness, first by accepting that there’s nothing wrong — and actually something refreshingly beautiful — about being awkward.

If you, right now, are in a shell, you should know that you’re not alone

"...There are many, many other people like you… it might even be necessary right now. It might keep you safe for a time. But after the danger is gone and after it’s exhausted its use, you’ll find a way out." says Frank.

The proceeds of this auction will go towards funding creative outlets for at-risk youth.

Harry Shum Jr.

Harry Shum Jr., celebrity dancer and actor most well-known for his work on Glee, Step Up 2: The Streets, and Step Up 3D has generously chosen to auction off his costume from this video and has selected Creativity Heals as the recipient of the proceeds. We are extremely grateful for this kind gesture as we feel that the message of "If You Are In a Shell" is very relevant to our cause and what Creativity Heals stands for. The paint splattered floor boards from the video shoot are being used for the framing of the case that displays the costume worn by Harry.
